CSMS #44293643 - Extension Reason Code Change on the Official Notice of Extension, Suspension, and Liquidation U.S. Customs and Border Protection sent this bulletin at 10/02/2020 10:31 AM EDT Cargo Systems Messaging Service CSMS #44293643 - Extension Reason Code Change on the Official Notice of Extension, Suspension, and Liquidation CBP users will now be able to change the liquidation extension reason on an entry summary. For example, the extension reason may be changed from “Customs extension” to “Importer Requests Extension” and vice versa. Only the most recent extension can be updated. CBP wants to ensure the reason for the extension is accurate in its system of record. Once the user updates the extension reason, the extension will again post to the Official Notice of Extension, Suspension, and Liquidation. The updated extension will not post in lieu of the previous extension. It is important to note that this capability and subsequent posting will not change the extension expiration date or the number of extensions. It will only change the extension reason for the entry summary. This programming does not change extension policy (19 CFR 159.12).
