CSMS #39671213 - Local Closure for Port 1401 (Norfolk-Newport News) on September 6, 2019 U.S. Customs and Border Protection sent this bulletin at 09/05/2019 03:21 PM EDT Cargo Systems Messaging Service CSMS #39671213 - Local Closure for Port 1401 (Norfolk-Newport News) on September 6, 2019 The Port of Norfolk-Newport News (1401) will suspend commercial operations on Friday, September 6, 2019 due to hazardous weather conditions from Hurricane Dorian. On September 6, 2019 a local closure day is granted to all who file entries at the Port of Norfolk-Newport News. CBP is extending an additional day, without penalty, for any entry summaries and payments of duties that were due on September 6, 2019 in the Port of Norfolk-Newport News. If you have any questions please contact: Assistant Area Port Director Andrew Kralik at 757-620-3842, Watch Commander Dan Whitehurst at 757-644-7593, or Watch Commander Todd VanPeeren at 757-435-8116. Commercial operations will cease at 1700 hours Thursday September 5, 2019, and it is anticipated the Port will resume normal business operations on Monday, September 9, 2019 at 0800 hours.
